Lockers in Newman Library

The Virginia Tech Libraries offers the use of lockers for Virginia Tech faculty and graduate students and Newman Library student employees. To request a locker, please visit the Circulation Desk on the second floor.

Rules for use of library lockers

Eligibility

Library lockers are issued to Virginia Tech graduate students, faculty, and Newman Library student assistants.

Length of agreement

Locker agreements are for the academic year and terminate on August 1.

Terms

The Library assumes no responsibility for materials lost or stolen from lockers.

The Library reserves the right to inspect lockers without notice.

• Food or drink (except water in closed containers) found in lockers will be discarded and will result in the revocation of locker privileges for the remainder of the academic year.
• Only personal property and properly checked out materials may be held in lockers. Library staff will remove and shelve any materials not checked out on your library account. Any violations will result in the revocation of locker privileges for the remainder of the academic year.
• Special Permission slips for non-circulating library materials must be prominently displayed in or on the associate item.
• Personal property left in lockers after the key return date, or where privileges have been revoked, will be removed. The Library, without liability, will attempt to notify the owners to arrange pickup.

Key return

If you leave Virginia Tech, you must return the locker key to the Circulation Desk located on the second floor, or you will be billed $15.00 for replacement of the lock and locker key. To free up lockers for other patrons, we ask that you return your key if you find that you are not using your locker regularly.

Renewal

You can renew your locker agreement by emailing the Circulation Desk with your name, Hokie ID number, and locker number.
