Equipment lending begins Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Items include:

  • Gateway (17" monitor, quad-core 1.5GHz, 4GB DDR3, 640GB HDD)

  • Olympus digital voice recorder WS-700  
  • Calculators -- TI-89 Titanium Graphing, TI-84 Plus Silver, TI-BAII Plus Pro, TI-30XA

Renewals**

One renewal allowed based on availability.  Equipment must be present at time of renewal.

Replacement prices

Replacement costs for damaged or lost computer or digital equipment and/or accessories will be assessed to patrons' library accounts along with a $20.00 processing fee.

In house equipment

Any of the equipment below can be used by providing a valid form of ID to the Circulation/Reserve Desk.

Video

Five stations are available for viewing library-owned or personal DVDs or VHS tapes.  Two of these stations are set up for viewing in groups of up to 4 patrons to watch videos for educational purposes. (See the group viewing policy.)

We also have a station equipped for PAL (the European/Asian VHS/DVD format) videos.

Audio

Listening stations are available for compact discs, audiocassettes and phonorecords. Headphones (for use with our listening stations or public computers) are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.

Microform readers and printers

There are three types of Microform: microfilm, microfiche, and microcard. For a detailed description of the differences of these items, see our collections page on microforms.

Readers and printers are available for all microforms formats. Please refer to the directions for using the readers and printers.

Monday-Thursday: 9:00am - 12:00noon; 1:00pm - 4:00pm; 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Friday: 9:00am - 12:00noon; 1:00pm - 4:00pm

(Ask for assistance at the second floor reference desk outside of these hours.)

Images may be saved on a USB drive or blank CD as well as printed on a laser printer. There is no charge for scanning or printing.

Other equipment

The library does not have video projection equipment to lend. Classroom Audio/Visual Services lends video projectors, audio/PA systems, overhead projectors, movie projectors, slide projectors, screens, tape recorders, CD players, DVD players/VCRs, and other accessories to faculty, staff and authorized graduate students for academic purposes. Sun: open 9:00am
Mon-Thu: open 24 hours*
Fri: close 8:00pm
Sat: 9:00am - 8:00pm

*During 24 hour operation, a valid Hokie Passport is required to access or remain in the library between 12 midnight and 7:30am.
