You can see any fines you may have accumulated in My Library Account.
Fines are not assessed until library materials have been checked in at Circulation. Once they are checked in, you may see your fine amount by logging in to My Library Account. The exception to this is if the item is listed as Billed or Bursar Billed, in which case you will see either a $95 charge, or the replacement cost of the item plus processing fees.
For the majority of library materials, fines accrue at a rate of $0.25 per day late. Media materials carry different fine amounts depending on the type of material, regardless of patron status. For more information, see the borrowing webpage. All patrons (including faculty and staff) are fined $1.00 per day late for not honoring recalled items.
After an item is 30 days overdue, you will be charged replacement costs.
Fines can be paid online, in person, or by mail, using checks or Hokie Passport accounts. Cash and debit/credit cards are not accepted.
If you find and return a lost item that you have been charged for but has not been sent to the Bursar's Office, you can receive a refund. Refunds for previously-paid-for materials will only be reimbursed within within sixty (60) days from the date of payment. The $20.00 processing fee charged by the Bursar's Office cannot be refunded.
