Request It! service

request buttonTo request items from our Storage facility, Newman or any of the other University branch libraries, look for the green request button next to the records while browsing Addison, the library catalog. After clicking on the request button, you will need to login to your library account if you haven’t already. Once you login, you will be presented with a choice of pickup location (including participating department offices via our Book Runner service). Keep in mind that if you choose a location other than Newman Library, you will have to wait up to one day longer to get your requested item.  If you request a delivery to a non-participating department, your request will be changed to be picked up at Newman Library.

After selecting your pickup location, click the submit button at the bottom of the page. This will take you to another page where you must confirm that the item you’ve selected is what you really want. Click the “REQUEST SELECTED ITEM” to finalize your request.

Requestable items

Items that can be requested are as follows: CDs, storage journals, scripts, juvenile books, VHS tapes, 16mm films, and books in Newman Library.

DVDs and bound journals are not eligible for this service; you will still need to retrieve these items on your own.

Delivery times for requested materials

Requests require a 48 hour processing time to be delivered to on-campus locations. Occasionally requests may take up to 5 business days to process due to high request volume or citation problems. Items requested from the Northern Virginia Resource Center will take 7-10 days to be delivered. Items that normally do not circulate from other branches are not available for courier service and must be used within that branch.

Mon-Thur: 10am, 3pm, 11pm
Fri-Sat: 10am, 3pm
Sun: 3pm, 11pm

Branch libraries pick-up

Mon-Fri 10am and 3pm

Once the item is ready for you to pickup, you will be notified by email.
