Request It! service

Patrons of Newman Library can now request items with a status of Available, as long as there are no blocks on your account. If you use the green Request button found next to select available items, we will go into the stacks for you and retrieve the book(s) you need.

Requestable items

Items that can be requested are as follows: CDs, storage journals, scripts, juvenile books, VHS tapes, 16mm films, and books in Newman Library.

DVDs and bound journals are not eligible for this new service; you will still need to retrieve these items on your own.

Pick-up

Mon-Thur: 10am, 3pm, 11pm
Fri-Sat: 10am, 3pm
Sun: 3pm, 11pm

You should be able to pickup your requested item within 3 days after requesting. Once the item is ready for you to pickup, you will be notified by email.

For faster updates on the status of your requests, sign up for our SMS text messaging service which will notify you that your request is ready to pickup as soon as we put it on our holdshelf.

To request items from Newman, look for the green request button next to the records while browsing Addison, our online catalog. After clicking on the request button, you will need to login to your library account if you haven’t already. Once you login, you will be presented with a choice of pickup location.

You have the choice to have the item you’ve requested delivered to one of several places. If you are a faculty member in a department that is participating in our Book Runner service, you can have your item delivered to your corresponding campus location.

For all other patrons, you have a choice of our three branches on campus. Keep in mind that if you choose a location other than Newman Library, you will have to wait up to one day longer to get your requested item.

After selecting your pickup location, click the submit button at the bottom of the page. This will take you to another page where you must confirm that the item you’ve selected is what you really want. Click the “REQUEST SELECTED ITEM” to finalize your request.
