Some of the University Libraries' physical collections is housed in high density storage instead of being located in the campus libraries (Newman, Vet Med, Art+Arch). The purpose is to make more of the immediate campus library space available for student use and instruction instead of book stacks.
Accessing resources from the Library Service Center is easy for all library users; in most cases material will be available the following business day. Material from the Library Service Center can be delivered to any branch library (Newman, Vet Med, Art+Arch, Northern Virginia Center, or multiple campus locations using the Bookrunner service). Items in the catalog will list a location of Library Service Center. Simply use the Request button on the Addison screen. That button will give you simple instructions to select the desired item and choose your delivery location.
The Library Service Center has facilities for users that would like to use material onsite. This is available by special arrangement by contacting Christopher Peters at 540-231-0220.
Library Courier Service is a resource that transports library materials to and from Newman Library, the Library Service Center, the Art + Architecture Library, and the Veterinary Medicine Library. All patrons should use ILLiad to request items from the NVC Resource Center in northern Virginia.
The Library Courier delivers library materials Monday through Friday and all deliveries are completed by 5:00 pm each day. The delivery schedule varies during breaks and summer. For more information about this service, visit the Library Courier Service page.
