University Libraries at Virginia Tech creates, curates, and manages digital libraries to preserve and provide access to Special Collections and University Archives, regional collections, research data, and works of scholarship created by the Virginia Tech community.

Collections

University Libraries 3-D collections consist of three-dimensional items photographed and modeled by the University Libraries 3-D digitization lab. Insects from the Department of Entomology are the principal collection.

The International Archive of Women in Architecture (IAWA) was established in 1985 as a joint program of the College of Architecture and Urban Studies and the University Libraries at Virginia Tech. The purpose of the Archive is to document the history of women's contributions to the built environment by collecting, preserving, and providing access to the records of women's architectural organizations and the professional papers of women architects, landscape architects, designers, architectural historians and critics, and urban planners.

JSTOR is a journal and image database that also includes collections of primary source materials contributed by institutions. Most Virginia Tech collections in JSTOR are available to the public. Some study collections are restricted to Virginia Tech for educational and research use.

Southwest Virginia Digital Archive houses collections from regional organizations. Collections include Blacksburg High School Yearbooks, Reynolds Archives, and the Taubman Museum of Art publications.

The library’s platform for displaying the Southwest Virginia Digital Archive is under development and additional collections are in several places:
