Adding citations to an EndNote library

Run search and click on title of a relevant article to see details.
In the Tools and Actions section, click on EndNote as your display format (other options are BibTex and ACM Ref).
A File Download window appears and you are asked: Do you want to open or save this file?
Choose Open and the marked references will automatically import into your EndNote library. If there is not a library already open, you will have to designate which library to use.

Run search, mark records (using either the My Lists feature or the temporary Quick List feature).
Click on View, Print and Export Saved List and then on View, Print and Export Saved List again to display them.
Click on Export Saved and choose format End-Note [sic].
Choose Send List to Local Disk.
The records are saved as the file export.txt and can be imported using the Virginia Tech import filter.

Click on Format for Print or Save (or Email records to yourself and then save).
Save the page that displays as a text file.
Import saved file using the National Agricultural Library import filter (9/14/2005).

There are two different methods depending on whether you download all your retrieved records from the result screen, or whether you download records saved to the bookbag.

Run search, mark records, add to marked list.
Select Full Record, Tagged Text, then select EndNote from the pull-down menu located between the save and export buttons.
Click export.
Choose your library and the results are automatically imported.

Use the View Marked List or Marked List link (location varies among the databases)
If available, use the Citation Tools link, the the EndNote option under Export to third party software
Otherwise use the Email option, save your received email as a text file, then import with the Gale filter

Google Scholar

Go to the Google Scholar home page and click on the Scholar Preferences link
Under Bibliography Manager select the option "Show links to import citations into" and choose EndNote in the drop down box. Click on the Save Preferences button.
Run search, locate items of interest and click on the Import into EndNote link. The file name is scholar.enw and the EndNote import filter is used to process the record.

Run search, mark results.
Click on view selected items button.
In the Download Citations box, choose output format (Citation or Citation & Abstract) and select EndNote, ProCite, RefMan option.
Results will be imported into the EndNote library you specify.

Run search, mark results., then lick on Save citation(s). This requires logging into a previously established account.
Click on Saved Citations to see My Saved Citations list. Check the Select all box (or mark selected references).
Click the Export article citations button.
Select EndNote, ProCite, or Reference Manager(download RIS file) from the Export Citations options.
You are asked to Open or Save Choose Open to automatically imported into your designated EndNote library. If you choose Save, the results are saved to the file “citations.ris.” Click it to import the saved records.

Click on the My Research tab at top of screen.
Click the Export citations into EndNote, ProCite, RefWorks or Reference Manager link.
You see the Export Citations page. Choose the direct export option.
Choose your EndNote Library and references are imported automatically.

If direct export does not work, choose the EndNote compatible format and save the RIS file as a text file. The file downloaded from ProQuest is organized using the RIS structure.

PubMed/Medline from the NLM

In your search results, use the citation check boxes to select citations. If you do not make any selections, PubMed will select all citations on the current page.
From the Display pull-down menu, select MEDLINE.
From the Send to pull-down menu, select File. Save as a text file.
Import this file using PubMed import filter

Run search, mark records by using the Check item box.
Click Add to My Marked Citations and then select the Email/Download/Save/Print My Marked Citations button.
Hit GO and choose format. The default is Citation Only but you can also choose Citation + Abstract.
Click on EXPORT/DOWNLOAD to Citation Manager and select EndNote format.
You are asked to Open or Save the EndNote Import File citmgr.enw. Choose Open, select your EndNote Library (if already open, no need to select), and the records are automatically imported.
