EndNote Web

What Is It?

Here is an edited portion of a press release about this new product from its producer: Thomson ResearchSoft, a business of The Thomson Corporation, introduces EndNote Web, the new Web-based research and writing tool, a bibliographic tool that complements and integrates seamlessly with EndNote desktop and the ISI Web of Knowledge research platform. EndNote Web can be used with all popular browsers, including Safari. EndNote Web supports EndNote desktop users who desire a Web component to their bibliographic solution and expands the EndNote community to undergraduate students who can benefit from the fundamental features in EndNote Web.

Where do I get it?

From the Web of Knowledge portal, you can click on the register for more features link, create an account using your Virginia Tech email address, and then Sign in to access EndNote Web from the portal. If you have previously established an account at the Web of Knowledge portal, you can access EndNote Web without taking any additional steps. Alternatively, go directly to the EndNote Web site and Sign Up for an account. You must use your Virginia Tech email address when you register.

Which databases can I access?

Web of Knowledge, PubMed, and many library catalogs. This product is available for free to Web of Knowledge subscribers such as the Virginia Tech Libraries. PubMed is freely available to anyone as are most academic and public library catalogs. Once you have created an account and signed into EndNote Web, click on the Online Search link in the Collect References section to see which databases are available.

How do I learn more about this product?

Go to the EndNote Web Help site where you can view a Tutorial and read about managing references and Cite While You Write. See also their quick tip sheet.
