[There is a problem with the DVD.] There are 2 machines in the ECS that can be used. The General Reference and Business machines have the data loaded so there is no need to use the DVD. |

The assignment from the instructor has the wrong call number for the disc (HF2625 rather than HF5625). The 2007 disc is updated through June 1, 2007. For more recent information, see the FASB web site. The FARS software is loaded on the Business/Law computer in the ECS. The disc must be inserted as well. | ongoing | Night OWL | Students looking for writing assistance this semester now have a new place to turn -- the Night OWL, the night-time Outpost of the Writing Lab. Night OWL will be available on a walk-in basis on Newman Library's fourth floor, at a well-marked table near the elevators, from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. A Writing Center coach will be available during these hours to assist any Virginia Tech students, faculty or staff with their writing. No appointment is necessary. The trained writing coaches work one-on-one with clients. A collaboration between the Writing Center and University Libraries, the Night OWL will complement the Writing Center's daytime hours in Shanks Hall and help to integrate the research and writing process for students. | 8/18/04 | Wireless Connectivity - Registration, Changes, etc. | From Robert Sebek: The way the wireless network works has changed. Before, users had to register their network card with CNS to get access to the network. Then, once their card was configured properly, the network just worked whenever they came in range. Now users must register their PID to access the network. Users previously registered under their card are "supposed" to be automatically moved over to the new system. Users now must login to the network with their PID/password before it will work. New users/people with questions should be directed to < http://wireless.cns.vt.edu>. There's a REGISTER link |

| 5/15/02 | Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing at Other Universities | University Libraries at Virginia Tech participate in the Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program maintained by the OCLC Research Libraries. The 200(+-) participating libraries allow one another's faculty members borrowing privileges and on-site access to their collections, under terms and conditions that are set locally. Virginia Tech teaching faculty intending to visit a participating library should come to Newman Circulation and ask a staff member for the brochure and for an OCLC reciprocal borrowing identification card. Please be aware that privileges vary from institution to institution. Materials may be used on the premises of the owning library or may be borrowed, depending on the policies of the lending library. Faculty members intending to visit a participating library may want to check in advance for any limitations and relevant policies and practices of the prospective lending library. *Select from list of OCLC Participating Libraries, then find phone numbers/addresses of participating libraries from a list of Library Web Servers to determine their agreement. |
