Library Excellence Fund

    Ut Prosim

The Library Excellence Fund is an important resource that addresses several critical library needs:

Graduate and undergraduate student assistants

Students can work with library user services and reference, computer systems and programming, special collections and digital repositories, and even help design spaces and create marketing plans for the Libraries.

The Libraries produce several special events, public programs, and workshops each year, extending awareness about its resources and services to local and international communities. Funds are used to subsidize the cost of holding these events.

Library collections

The Libraries exist to build collections of scholarly and research information and make them available to the Virginia Tech community. Donations anywhere from $100 to $10,000 and higher are used to purchase books, journals, databases, and other materials needed by students and faculty in their research.

21st century library spaces for learning

Contemporary libraries must have spaces that are technology-rich, flexible and comfortable in their furnishings, and aesthetically pleasing to their users. Students need to “rest and recharge” as well as study independently and collaborate on course projects. New library spaces are needed by students to accommodate all of these activities.

Tomorrow’s technologies

Libraries are increasingly high-technology zones. They manage digital libraries, electronic publishing services, print on demand, digitizing of collections, student-centric technologies (search tools, etc.), and personal and mobile computing devices such as iPads, Kindles, laptops, desktops, camcorders, digital cameras, and more.

Your contribution to this Fund may help the Virginia Tech Libraries support students and faculty members in any one of these core areas. Please consider giving to the Library Excellence Fund and making a difference in the Virginia Tech community today!
