While most people set up alerts for articles and journal publications, you may also want to be alerted when new books on a topic are published or added to the Virginia Tech Libraries' collection. If you find a newly published book, you can Suggest an item for purchase or request to borrow it through interlibrary loan.
Addison now offers you the ability to have customized alerts sent to your email address twice a month, letting you know of any new library arrivals that match your interests. Alternatively, we have also given you the option of staying current through a monthly web feed (often referred to as RSS) to your desktop, alerting you to new books.
The Books in Print from Bowker database can alert you when new books matching your criteria are published. You can then search Addison to see if the book book is currently part of our collection or has been ordered. If not, you can Suggest an item for purchase online. A college librarian will receive your request for evaulation.
