ACS Publications offers four types of alerts: Search Alerts: emailed daily or weekly when new content matches your search criteria, ASAPSM Alerts: daily or weekly email alerts when individual articles from the journal(s) you have selected, are released on the web, Table of Contents (TOC) Alerts: email alerts with the table of contents for specific issues on the day the complete issue is posted to the web, and Citation Alerts: email alerts when new content in ACS cites a specified article or chapter.

The American Society of Civil Engineers publishes a number of journals for which you can receive table of contents alerts. Simply enter your email address, select one or more journals from the list, and choose the format of the email you wish to receive. You'll be sent a confirmation email; follow the directions supplied to complete the process.

You can receive search alerts, table of content alerts and citation alerts from journals published by Cambridge University Press. You will need to create an account before setting up alerts. On any Cambridge page, look for the Register Now in the left navigation menu to create an account.

Register for Sage's Email Alert service that allows you to receive via email the table of contents, call for papers information, special issue announcements, and other product information for any Sage Publications, Sage Science Press, or Corwin Press journal approximately four to six weeks prior to publication. You can receive Table of Content alerts when a new issue is published, an alert when new content matching a saved search is added to the database, and an alert when a preselected article is cited by another article in the database.

ScienceDirect is a database from Elsevier Science that provides abstract and full-text access to over 2500 journals from several publishers. Nearly 4 million full-text articles from 1995 to present covering a wide variety of subject areas and disciplines are available. While the focus clearly is on science, technology, and medicine, there are many humanities and social sciences journals covered as well, so the name is a little misleading. You can create search alerts (new matches to your search criteria), journal issue alerts (table of contents of new issues), and citation alerts (when an article you select is cited by new articles added to the ScienceDirect database).
