Group Study Rooms
Study space for groups is provided on the second floor and fourth floor of Newman Library.
The University Libraries has a strong commitment to providing a variety of research and library use spaces for the university community. To meet the changing demands of course curricula requiring more student group interactions and research, the Libraries established group study/research rooms on the second and fourth floors of Newman Library.
Use of the study rooms
- Study rooms were developed for student study in the library, and are not available for university seminars, meetings, or other activities.
- A group is three or more students.
- Study rooms are not reserved.
- There are no time limits on the use of the study rooms.
- Anybody can use a study room if it is vacant. If a group study room is occupied by one or two people and a study group of three or more arrives later and wishes to use the room, the group has precedence over one or two people for use of the room.
- At times library staff may post signs indicating that a study room is reserved for a special library instruction session that can't be accommodated in the regular classroom.
