Which databases can I access?

The databases below are freely available databases from the U.S. federal goverment (PubMed, Agricola from USDA) and from libraries such as Addison from the Virginia Tech Libraries.

Addison - Va Tech Libraries Online Catalog

Use the VaTech import filter.

A Windows connection file is also availlable for download. Or, create your own. You will need to know the server address (hardy.cc.vt.edu), port (210), and database name (innopac).

  1. Run search, mark records.
  2. Click on Save Recordsand then on View Saved to display them.
  3. Click on Export Saved and choose format End-Note.
  4. Choose Send List to Local Disk.
  5. The records are saved as the file export.txt and can be imported using the VaTech import filter.

  1. Run search, mark records.
  2. Select Export Format.
  3. Click on Format for Print or Save(or E-mail records to yourself and then save).
  4. Save the page that displays as a text file.
  5. Import saved file using the National Agricultural Library import filter (9/14/2005).

PubMed

  1. In your search results, use the citation check boxes to select citations. If you do not make any selections, PubMed will select all citations on the current page.
  2. From the Display pull-down menu, select MEDLINE.
  3. From the Send to pull-down menu, select File.
  4. Import this file using PubMed import filters.
