VPN access

In addition to Off Campus Sign In, you can also use the campus VPN (Virtual Private Network) to connect to the campus network and access library resources like databases, ejournals, ebooks, and more, remotely.

  1. Install the VPN software
  2. Be sure you have established an account that enables VPN access (you must be subscribed to either the Virginia Tech Wireless Network service or the Virginia Tech wired ethernet service)
  3. Know your network password
  4. Connect to the VPN

Please note that the default configuration of the VPN is to route only traffic to on-campus servers through the VPN. Library databases, ejournals, ebooks, and other resources are generally not located on campus. To use the VPN to connect to these, please choose to route all traffic through the VPN before attempting to access.
