Newman classroom standard setup
The Newman classroom, located in room 207A Newman Library, offers 25 student stations and one instructor station: 800 MHz Dell PCs with 128 MB of memory. This classroom can be reserved online. Instructors will want to note the Library Classrooms Policy. Each station comfortably seats two students and additional chairs are available for even larger classes.
We strongly suggest that Instructors make arrangements to test software and sample files (particularly if they are not part of the standard setup) prior to the class. Instructors can contact Classroom Management staff to determine when other classes are not scheduled and find time to test software. Classroom Management staff can also demonstrate the operation of the classroom projector and sound system. These preparations will lessen the chances of problems or surprises during the actual class.
Located at the Instructor's station is the remote to the InFocus projector. The projector will show whatever is displayed on the Instructor's monitor.
A sound system and wireless microphone will enable students to hear instructors over the hum of the computers. Complete instructions for turning the system on and adjusting the volume are located directly in front of the sound system. Extra batteries for the microphone are also located nearby. We suggest all instructors use the sound system to improve the learning environment for the students.
The following software is installed as part of the standard setup for this classroom. Instructors who require additional software or sample files will need to give at least ten working days notice to Classroom Management staff to allow time for installation and testing.
