Desktop Delivery

Virginia Tech affiliates (students, faculty, and staff) on the Blacksburg campus may request scanned copies of:

• articles in bound print journals
• journal articles, newspaper articles, and other materials found on microfilm or microfiche (Newman Library only)
• book chapters
• SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Technical Papers
• papers from conference proceedings

from print materials located at Newman, Art + Architecture, and the Vet Med libraries, in addition to the Remote Storage facility.

The scanned files will be delivered in PDF format to your ILLiad account under the Electronic Delivery section, where you will be able to download and/or print the file. There is no charge for this service courtesy of the Access Services Department.

Please allow 2 business days processing time; no request processing occurs on Saturday or Sunday.

This service compliments a similar service for extended campus users, who can have local print materials scanned and delivered to them as PDF (or have equivalent items delivered from other libraries)

To place a request, Login to ILLiad , and select the Blacksburg Campus Desktop Delivery option on the left menu bar. Please provide as much information as possible, such as:

• journal, book, or conference title
• volume and issue number, chapter number
• month and/or year (for newspaper articles include the exact day and section and/or page number)
• inclusive pages numbers.
