Hands-on session in a library classroom

    Newman library classroom

The library has several classrooms in which your class can attend one or more instructional sessions that cover

  • effective use of library resources like databases, ejournals, and ebooks
  • research strategies tailored for your assignment
  • types of information sources, especially scholarly sources
  • evaluating sources of information
  • managing citations
  • citing sources

Instructors of ENGL 1105/1106/1204H and COMM 1015/1016 should use our  Instruction and Classroom Request Form to arrange a session (submit your form as far in advance as possible to ensure your selected date and times can be accommodated). These sessions are most effective when students have begun an assignment so specific resources can be covered and students can perform actual searches while in the classroom.

All other instructors should contact their college librarian to arrange one or more sessions.
