There are study carrels on the fourth floor along the windows on the Drill Field side of building that are a fire hazard.
Thank you for your concern. The carrels are only there temporarily, while the Graduate Study Room is being renovated. As soon as the work in the lounge is completed the carrels go back where they belong.

I would love to have more maps with call numbers around the Library. When you are walking in the stacks and get lost, you have to come back to the elevator to check the map, and then find your way back.
Additional signs are being installed this summer. You will find floor plans scattered around the floors in the near future. You may also pick up a Newman Library handout at either the second or fourth floor reference desk or the information desk at the library end of Torgersen Bridge. Self guided tour pamphlets are available on each floor near the elevators.

Please get subscriptions to Entrepreneur and Real simple
If you check our e-journal database you will see that have both of these journals available in electronic form. Our holdings for Entrepreneur go from 2003 to the present, and our holdings for Real Simple go from 2002 to the present. Given our ongoing budget constraints, the Library can not afford have both paper and electronic access for these two journals.

Please fix your DVD filing system.
DVDs are shelved by alphabet, but not alphabetically within each starting letter. We have a large number of DVDs that circulate constantly, so it is unfeasible for us to keep them in strict alphabetically order. Addison will list the availablility status of any given DVD, so if you know one is not checked out, but cannot find it on the shelf, please ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk nearby. Circulation also produces a number of brochures listing DVDs by genre (comedies, horror, westerns, etc) which allows for another way to find great films.

Is it is possible to use the white bulletin board in the area between the front doors and the security gates for notices about campus events.
At the present time we have no procedures for posting notices in the Library. However, Bruce Obenhaus, has agreed to entertain the possibility of providing this service. If you have a campus notice that you would like to post in the Library, get in touch with Bruce (231-6181) and he will try to accommodate your request.

There is a gross smell in the QR-R section on the 4th floor. It seems to be coming from a vent and it is unbearable to be in the center of the row of shelves.
We checked it out and found the same area. Unfortunately couldn't find any cause. Smells like food was left behind. Will check with the housekeeper in the morning to see if they found anything and disposed of anything and will check back on the area.

The Library lobby would be enhanced if you replaced the modern painting between the two entrance doors with something that was less modern.
I am sorry you don't like the painting we are displaying in the lobby Much of the art work we use in the library is donated. In this instance, this particular piece was donated by the artist. We want to recognize the artist/donor who gave generously to the University Libraries and the university community. I recognize we all have different taste in art and what some don't appreciate many others do.
