I would appreciate a "desktop delivery" feature, where articles in the library physical holdings can be scanned on demand and delivered electronically (through systems such as the ILL electronic delivery feature) to patrons. The University I was at prior to VT offered this service for faculty and it was a great help.
Thank you for your useful suggestion, but due to limited resources we are unable to offer this service at this time.

I would like to request a favicon for VT library website. It takes too much space for my bookmark bar to write out "VT library". All my other bookmarked sites has favicons. It'd be very nice if I can see one for vt library site. Thanks.
Favicon has been added.

It would be cool if you had an online floor map of Newman Library so that students could look up specific shelving sections and even bathrooms so they don't have to pack up everything because they are afraid they will be gone to long and end up packing everything up just to make a quick bathroom break. Thanks.
We do have this information available on our homepage, under Library Floor Maps. (maps)

We also link to them from the All site A to Z page.
Maps are also available in Addison. When viewing a book's record, the location label (such as Newman 3rd Floor or Newman Scripts) will be linked to a map that highlights the stacks or section where that item should be found. (We would show the stacks in more detail, but rows are shifted often to accommodate new purchases, and thus our maps would constantly be out of date.)

I'm trying to use a microfilmed newspaper ordered from ILL. I'm told at circulation that this is only accessible during ILL working hours. Since I do my research evening and weekends, I find this most inconvenient-it will be next Friday afternoon before I have a long block of time to devote to reading this newspaper. Could we please go back to the old system of making ILL material available off-hours, especially items that must be used in the building?
The ILL General Information, Delivery Options page under the heading "Where we hold items for pick-up" states:
ILL office, Newman Library (ILL) - You may pick up items In the ILL Office during normal business hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you find it impossible to visit our office during normal business hours, please contact us to make special arrangements to pick up your items at another place and time.
This option hold true for "library use only" materials as well as books and articles. Contact Sharon Gotkiewicz. She will make arrangements to place the film at the circulation desk and leave it there until you are finished. She will request that they keep some kind of identification while you have the materials checked out. Also, please let her know when you are finished so the item may be returned to the lending library.
I hope this helps. Let me know what else we can do for you.
