I mailed in an overdue library book a few months ago, and my account does not reflect that the book was received. I contacted the library about the address to send it in, and I had the mail sent certified USPS. My account number is XXXXXXXXX. Thank you for looking into this matter.
The book is no longer attached to your account, so it must have been checked in and your records cleared.
Brand Pratt
Head of Circulation
To whom this may concern: I had trouble finding an article. I had the call number & such, but actually looking for the periodical itself was hard. It was only after asking the Circulation desk did I find that the Librarian of that floor was gone for the day. I suggest that either hours be extended or the sign on the desk be changed to gone for the day, rather then return in 5 minutes, if they are going to be gone for the day.
Thank you. A student at VT
I am so sorry for the inconvenience this situation must have caused you. The only times this could have happened are Friday and Saturday evenings when the SciTech desk on the 4th floor closes early at 5 pm. The last person at the desk must have put up the wrong sign, as our normal sign states that the desk is closed, and that assistance is available at the Business/Hum/SoSci desk on the second floor. The Circulation desk person should have directed you to that help desk,
rather than just stating that the 4th floor desk was closed. Sunday through Thursday, both desks are staffed until the Library closes at midnight.
I will notify the team leader for the SciTech group about the mishap with the sign at the desk, and will let the Head of Circulation know that someone on her staff gave a patron less than accurate information. Hopefully this will not happen again.

1) THANKS for the free coffee, tea & hot chocolate during finals week. GREAT idea!!
2) I love the coffee/tea/hot cocoa station during exams! It makes the long nights a little easier. Thank you!
3) To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to take a moment to thank all of the wonderful library staff who served coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to us students during the library's extended exam hours. Their pleasant attitudes and smiles [despite having to stay up later than normal] made studying for my Anatomy and Physiology final a much more enjoyable experience. Thanks again, you guys rock! =)
Sincerely,
Another overworked college student
4) This offering of coffee, tea and hot cocoa during exam hours is an absolutely terrific idea. I would like this to become a tradition.
Thanks alot. =)
5) Dear Library, Thank you for the delicious warm beverages you so kindly provided our weary noggins with after a long study session. It was most appreciated and aided us in continuing our session, and hopefully we'll all get A's on our exam! :D
6) Exam beverages rock!!! :-)
Thank you all for your comments. We just wanted to make a stressful time a little more enjoyable and are glad to hear you enjoyed the free goodies.

Please clean the restrooms during the extended hours exam nights.
I am sorry, but the custodial staff comes in early in the morning and leaves in the mid afternoon. We have no control over their schedules. Plus we are trying to offer the extended hours with only minimal staff involved.

I hereby grant to Virginia Tech a non-exclusive license to release my (choose one) thesis / dissertation for worldwide access.

I was looking at Norfolk & Western RR historical photos on line labeled as "ns5569.jpg". The unidentified building in Williamsburg is the "Brafferton" which is the Provost's Office at the College of William & Mary. I am sure your colleges at Swem Library will confirm the information. The unidentified building at Jamestown (next photo to the right) was called the Pavillion and housed a museum of artifacts relating to Jamestown. The car in front appears to have Virginia license plate #1 which was traditionally issued to the Governor of Virginia.
Thank you for identifying the buildings in these photos. We have added this information to the metadata for these files. We welcome patrons supplying information on our collection of historical photos, many of which can only be identified by what was written on the back when they were originally produced.

Male Library workers should be required to wear tuxedoes.
Hmmm, a very interesting suggestion. Sort of a James Bond at the casino look, yes? While it might improve our image, I doubt if it would go over well with our staff. The dry cleaning bills alone would make it prohibitive!!! :-)
