Aug. 8, 2010 – If you search Addison while logged in to My Library Account, you will see links to service-related forms in the External Links box on individual item record screens. The External Links box typically shows information related to the item being viewed: the book jacket image (which is linked to additional information including table of contents, author information, book reviews, and summaries or first chapters), links to relevant Subject Guides, and a link to commonly used citation styles. Searching while logged in allows additional links to appear, particularly to forms you would otherwise have to fill in manually.
Faculty and Teaching Assistants can use a link to place an item on Course Reserves. The bibliographic data for the item will be automatically filled into the request form. They can also book movies (videos, DVDs, 16mm films, lasers discs, and 35mm slide sets) for use in classes. This ensure their availability for the necessary date(s) and allows for an extended checkout period over personal use of a movie. Look for the Book this movie/slide set for a class link.
If you have checked the shelf for an item that is listed as Available, but it's not there, you can use the Request a Search form to initiate the search process. We'll look for your book up to four times. If it's found, we'll take it to the Circulation Desk and contact you to come in and pick it up. If it's not found, we'll change the catalog record to indicate it is lost, and then you'll be eligible to use Interlibrary Loan to request the book from another library.
If a book is located in one branch, but you typically use a different one (for instance, you work near the Art + Architecture branch in Cowgill and find a book you need in the Vet Med Library), you can use the Courier Service to have that book delivered from one branch to another. Use the Courier Service link to initiate this process. You'll be emailed once the book is ready for you to pick up. (Use the Request button to have an item located in the Storage Facility delivered to the branch of your choice.)
Extended campus users (those located outside the New River Valley counties of Montgomery, Giles, and Pulaski) can use ILLiad to have books and other materials mailed directly to their home address. Look for the Extended campus users can Request from ILLiad link, which will fill out the ILLiad request form with the bibliographic data from the Addison record for you (much like using the ILLiad link in a Get VText window for an article fills in the Article Request form for you).
