Sept. 2, 2010 – Our primary search tool for theses and dissertations has changed from Dissertation Abstracts to Dissertations & Theses Global from ProQuest . This new database brings many enhancements, including full-text access to many documents. Funding has been provided through a partnership of colleges and universities across Virginia working together with the Virtual Library of Virginia.
Dissertations & Theses Global from ProQuest includes more than 2.7 million citations to dissertation and theses from around the world from 1861 to the present, along with more than 1.2 million full-text dissertations that are available for download in PDF format. (Dissertation Abstracts did not provide full-text for its indexed documents.) More than 70,000 new full-text dissertations and theses are added yearly.
Most newer publications are available as full-text PDFs in this database. You can use ILLiad to request copies of theses or dissertations that are not available online or owned by Virginia Tech. (Not all theses or dissertations are available for lending through interlibrary loan.) See our guide to finding theses and dissertations for more options.
