July 7, 2011 – The university required that PID password be changed by July 1, 2011, and will require annual changes in the future. A password not changed by that deadline will expire, and expired passwords will not allow logging into Off Campus Sign In (or webmail, Scholar, CAS, etc.). If you attempt to login with an expired password, you will receive an error message. Passwords that have been changed between July 1, 2010 and July 1, 2011 will be valid for 12 months from the date of the change.

Never enter your PID/password on a non-vt.edu site. Many students reach a library database or ejournal site without passing through Off Campus Sign, and are then presented with a login before they can access the content. No non-vt.edu site can lookup PID/passwords in our systems. Entering your PID/password on a database or ejournal site not only will never work, but it will expose your password to a third party.

How to change your PID password?

Log into your MyVT account at http://my.vt.edu and navigate to "Manage Your Profile" located under the Personal Info tab. After opening the "Mange your Profile" link click "Change Password".  For more information visit he knowledge base at http://answers.vt.edu/kb/entry/258/.
