Faculty Week: How to arrange library instruction sessions

Aug. 23, 2014 – The Virginia Tech Libraries is looking forward again to working with students on using our wealth of collections, resources, and services for their assignments and research projects. It's easy for instructors to set up sessions where college or instruction librarians can provide instruction tailored to these assignments and projects.

Instructors of ENGL 1105, 1106, 1204, or COMM 1015, 1016 classes should use our online reservation form. You'll be assigned a librarian and a library classroom for your session. For all other courses, contact your college librarian to discuss the assignment and arrange a session.

Our Special Collections department also offers sessions on their collections and resources. Use their Schedule a Special Collections instruction session form to arrange an instruction session with them.

If you'd like to use one of our classrooms (perhaps because your regularly scheduled classroom doesn't have computers), you can use our online reservation form.

Students needing to become familiar with the collections and services available in Newman Library can take a self-guided, audio tour. They can use their own mobile device or check out an iPad from the Circulation desk. A brief quiz at the end can serve as a record of attendance for those instructors who require the library tour.
