Access to restricted library resources through VPN ending

Jan. 18, 2015 – The University Libraries will be removing support for access via the VPN (Virtual Private Network) to restricted resources such as ejournals, ebooks, and databases. We have upgraded the Off Campus Sign In proxy service to ensure compatibility with corporate, public school, and military networks that previously blocked the proxy. Off Campus Sign In will be the only way users outside of the campus networks will be able to access these resources.

Our subscription resources are contractually restricted to current students, faculty, and staff of the university. The VPN will be opened to alumni and other users not allowed by our contracts. So we must remove access to our resources through the VPN.

We recommend installing the LibX browser extension. If you land on a web page for a subscribed resource, like an article or ebook, you can right-click on that page to reload it through Off Campus Sign In. That way you won't need to backtrack to a library web page to sign in.

Distance users of our resources who have questions about access can email the Distance Education support group.
