May 12, 2015 – Remember to turn in any items checked on on your account (library or Interlibrary Loan books, DVDs, videos, or CDs) before you leave town for the summer. Often students forget to turn in items, and then accumulate fines for overdue fees or for recalled books. Check your library account online to see if there are any library items checked out to you. Check your Interlibrary Loan account for ILL items as well.
Note that patrons have a limited number of renewals, and patrons cannot renew items that have been recalled. Packing library items away in storage, or leaving the country with library books, can result in large fines or replacement fees.
Other patrons can recall items at any time, which limits your checkout period, and can assess at $1/day overdue fine. So don't assume you will not have to return items until your original due date.
Ensure that all items are removed from your record by turning in items directly to the circulation desk and asking for a check in receipt.
If you leave town and find that you have taken library materials with you, you can mail them back. See the returning items page for details.
Contact the Circulation Desk at (540) 231-6340 if you have any questions about your account.
