Virginia Tech Libraries are pleased to offer an open access (OA) subvention fund to subsidize article processing fees for scholarly peer-reviewed articles accepted for publication in open access or hybrid OA journals.

A primary goal of the program is to enable authors to engage in new transformational open publishing environments. We hope to raise awareness among Virginia Tech authors of the benefits of open publishing and to encourage new ways of thinking about digital scholarship and information access.

The program aligns with the University Libraries strategic direction to support the research endeavors of our faculty and students, including the process of providing unrestricted access to digital research and scholarship.

OA fees are often reduced through discounts offered by University Libraries' memberships and subscriptions.

Interested authors should begin by reviewing the VT OASF Guidelines and then completing the Open Access Subvention Fund request form
