Open Access Week webinar on OA in engineering Wed Oct 23

The webinar will tackle the familiar issues surrounding open access, such as

  • What is open access?
  • What are the benefits of publishing open access?
  • Why publish open access in engineering?

Discussions and questions will take place after the presentations are concluded. Speakers include

  • Professor Andrew Deeks, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Durham University: Introducing the topics for the Open Access in Engineering debate
  • OA event chair: Professor Eann Patterson, of the University of Liverpool: Chairing the OA debate and providing a brief overview of his experiences as an editor of an OA engineering journal
  • Phil Sykes, Head librarian at University of Liverpool: Sharing his views on public policy in open access and the RCUK mandate's topical resource allocation
  • David Ross, Executive Publisher for Open Access at SAGE: To discuss experiences of open access publishing in general
  • Phil Hurst, Publisher of the Royal Society: To discuss experiences of open access publishing in general
