Research methods defined

There are many forms research can take; several of these methods are described below*.

Involves identifying and locating sources of factual information, expert opnion, or supportind documentation for a research question
This method is used with most other ones listed here
Takes place in a laboratory or other dedicated facility, using specific equipment and procedures
Focuses on unexamined details or evidence of a text or event, in order to understand one or more aspecfts of it
When the researcher travels to the location of the study
Capturing details of a behavior in a lab or in the field
Recording any variation of conversations about an experience, issue, or procedure, with which the interviewee is knowledgeable.
Recording responses to a series of questions, possibly including demographic or socioeconomic information
Following a study over time or periodically reperforming research methodologies on the same sample or group
Close study of original documents, like those collected by libraries, governments, and other organizations, that exist in a unique location
Research whose results are textual, images, or otherwise non-numerical
Research whose results are numerical, where the study involves measurements, mathematical calculations, graphs, and figures
Experiments or observations that test the validity of the studies phenonenon
Speculations based on finding of other research to explain or predict behavior, phenomena, or results
