Maps and datasets for Blacksburg and Montgomery County

 

  • Montgomery County GIS Datasets is provided by the Department of Planning & GIS Services, and is restricted to Virginia Tech faculty/students. Montgomery County also maintains a online site (iGIS) which is available to the public as a service to the taxpayers of Montgomery County, VA. The information available includes tax parcel boundaries, ownership and assessment database, voter precincts, national forest boundaries, conservation easements, roads, and street addresses. Map and database information is believed to be accurate but accuracy is not guaranteed. This site is available twenty-four hours a day. The information will be updated approximately once a month. From time to time new layers or capabilities may be added to the site.
  • Town of Blacksburg GIS The Town has begun to develop a Geographic Information System (GIS) which links data located in a computer database with map features on computerized maps. As information is added to the system, it will enable the rapid and accurate retrieval of data. As our GIS develops, it will serve as a valuable tool for storing and retrieving information, planning, and detailed analysis. It will also help us quickly and accurately reply to customer requests for information. GIS data layers completed are: tax parcels, water distribution system, sanitary sewer system storm sewer system.
    • GIS datasets for Blacksburg consists of the latest data files for the following layers: zoning , street addresses, tax parcels, water distribution system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system. creek overlays, bikeways, greenways and 1991 topographic data. This data is provided by the Town of Blacksburg. This data is provided by Montgomery County Department of Planning and GIS Services.

*During 24 hour operation, a valid Hokie Passport is required to access or remain in the library between 12 midnight and 7:30am.
