The mission of University Records & Information Governance is to promote efficient and economic management of public records for Virginia Tech. This is done in the following ways:

Assign retention codes for records that need to be retained for a finite period of time.
In accordance with state guidelines, we can destroy large volumes of your confidential records in our industrial-size shredder.
The University Records Center is capable of storing over 19,000 boxes of records. University Records & Information Governance also provides off-site storage of computer / electronic back-up data in a secure, fire-resistant vault.

All of these services are free to organizations affiliated with Virginia Tech. If you would like more information about how to properly manage official university records please contact us. Visits to our facility are welcome. To arrange a tour please contact us.
